Businesses can now leverage Recurring Shifts to engage their favorite talent more regularly.

At Croux, we are constantly striving to provide innovative solutions that make workforce management more efficient and adaptable. Our latest feature, Recurring Shifts, is designed to meet the dynamic needs of businesses by allowing them to post a set of shifts that can be dedicated to a target individual or picked up by multiple qualified talent.

Benefits of Recurring Shifts

The main objective of Recurring Shifts is to address specific staffing challenges that businesses frequently encounter. We identified three primary use cases where this feature can make a significant impact:

  1. Temporary Fill-Ins: Sometimes, businesses need to fill a position for an extended period, such as when an employee is on leave. For example, if your dishwasher is gone for two weeks, you can set up recurring shifts to cover this role temporarily.
  2. Limited but Regular Needs: There are situations where a business might need additional help on a regular but limited basis. For instance, an extra prep cook or two might be required every Friday to prepare for busy weekends during the Fall. Recurring Shifts allow you to schedule this help consistently without the extra step of posting new shifts every week.
  3. Trial/Training Periods for Potential Hires: Businesses often want to trial potential hires to see if they are a good fit for a part-time or full-time position. By setting up recurring shifts, you can give a candidate a consistent schedule, allowing you to evaluate their performance over time.

A Comprehensive Staffing Approach

In addition to addressing specific use cases, Recurring Shifts enable businesses to adopt a more comprehensive staffing strategy. We have identified three tiers of staff that businesses can stack for long-term benefits:

  1. Flex Staff: These are employees who are called in as needed, providing flexibility for unexpected demands.
  2. Recurring Staff: With the new Recurring Shifts feature, businesses can now create a stable tier of recurring staff. These are individuals who work on a consistent schedule, filling regular but non-permanent roles. This tier provides a mix of flexibility and consistency.
  3. Permanent Staff: These are full-time or part-time employees who form the core of your business’s workforce. They offer stability, leadership, and in-depth knowledge of the business’s operations.

By integrating these three staffing tiers, businesses can execute a productive and efficient workforce strategy. This tiered staffing approach is a natural and efficient progression for any new employees. Croux facilitates seamless transitions between these tiers, allowing businesses to scale their operations efficiently and respond to varying demands with ease.

3.  Dedicate or Open the Shift: Decide whether to assign the shift to a specific individual or open it up to multiple qualified talent.

  • When the position is dedicated to an individual, only 1 shift will post initially. After a hire is made, the rest of the shifts will appear in your shift inventory, with that hire assigned to all future shifts.
  • When the shift is open to any qualified talent, all shifts will be posted at once but each one will have a unique set of applicants. You will need to hire for each day individually.
